it's official

Yep, it is now completely official...my parents have hit the mid-life crisis stage. The term "mid-life crisis" is often used to describe a person, usually in his 40's or 50's, who suddenly engages in uncharacteristic behavior that seems like an attempt to reclaim some of his youth. Examples of such behavior might be: leaving one's family for a fling, quitting one's job and running off to the islands, buying a fancy sports car or boat, or undergoing extensive plastic surgery.

So why do I think my parents have hit this stage? Well, they just emailed me pictures of their most recent purchase:

So, Mom and Bob, all I can say is, if you decide to run off to the islands next, please take me with you!

That is a beautiful MGB! Alls I have to say is that your parents did a great job of picking the "mid-life crisis" car. Glad they didn't go for the standard Porche, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, etc. Way to "B" different!(http://images.businessweek.com/di/carbuff/car_reviews/midlife/source/1.htm)
I want a ride....!

Did your parents also buy hounds-tooth sweaters, driving goggles, and then acquire the services of a "gentleman's gentleman" named Lafferty or Jeeves?

Or are your parents actually Lord and Lady Thropington-on-Jacket?

Man, that's a BRITISH car.

Grow old gracefully - what an oxymoron! What is graceful about wrinkles, hair loss, hair in strange places, memory lapses, sagging body parts, weight gain, etc., etc., etc. Of course, NONE OF THIS applies to us!!

So what is the alternative - fight it all the way! There won't be a front porch rocking chair for us. Just wave as we pass by in our beautiful MGB with berets and scarfs blowing in the wind. (Thank you j-p - we do like to be original.)

So,this Lord and Lady will be "pumping it up" at our castle until we walk through the gates of that castle in the sky.

We will be loving life and family, entertaining friends, traveling the world, feeling the wind blow in our faces, playing with grandchildren.(Thank you Tara and Shawn. We are waiting for Tiffany & Todd, Mary, and Sam to supply a house full.) And, hopefully, bringing joy to others.

So, if you want to call it a mid-life crisis - that's okay. I prefer to call it a "mid-life celebration" - celebrating all that you can be until your time is up.

Have you ever heard the saying -
"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?" Well, 30 sounds great to me!!

So, family and friends, wait and see what's next!!!!! We've JUST STARTED that bucket list!!!

Love you,
Mamma Mia
